Germany's June Inflation Confirmed At 2%

Germany's EU harmonized consumer prices increased as estimated earlier in June, final data released by statistical office Destatis showed Wednesday.

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) increased 2 percent on an annual basis in June, in line with the preliminary estimates. The growth rate, however, eased from May's 2.2 percent.

Month-on-month, the HICP decreased 0.2 percent during the month, as estimated earlier. In May also EU harmonized prices dropped 0.2 percent.

At the same time, the consumer price inflation came at 1.7 percent in June, in line with the preliminary estimates. In May, the inflation rate was 1.9 percent.

Compared to May, consumer prices edged down 0.1 percent, after falling 0.2 percent in May. The monthly decline matched flash estimates, the agency said.
