Hungary Inflation Accelerates In June

Hungary's consumer price inflation accelerated to 5.6 percent in June from 5.3 percent in May, the Hungarian Central Statistical Office said Wednesday.
Economists expected the rate to rise to 5.4 percent. The harmonized index of consumer prices, calculated as per the EU methodology, also rose 5.6 percent on an annual basis.
Food prices rose 5 percent year-on-year in June, while utility costs climbed 6.7 percent.
Month-on-month, the consumer price index rose 0.1 percent against expectations for a 0.1 percent drop. The HICP was flat on a monthly basis.
The core inflation rate was at 4.9 percent in June. Month-on-moth, the core measure rose 0.4 percent.
