Estonia's Inflation Weakens In October

Estonia's consumer price inflation declined in October from the previous month, data released by Statistics Estonia showed Thursday.

The consumer price index moved up 1.5 percent in October from the same month of last year. The rate of growth was slower than 2.1 percent recorded in September.

The headline index was lifted mainly by a 1.7 percent gain in costs food and non-alcoholic beverages, and a 3 percent growth in clothing and footwear prices.

There was an 8 percent growth in housing costs. These increases were partially offset by a 6.1 percent fall in transportation costs, data showed.

Sequentially, the consumer price index edged down 0.3 percent in October, as it did in the previous month, the agency said.
